Tender apples, creamy oats and the warmth of cinnamon bring the best of an orchard morning to the breakfast table.
Serves 2 | 5 minutes preparation | 10 minutes cooking
Ingredients
- 100g porridge oats
- 400ml milk or unsweetened oat drink
- 1 apple, diced
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp butter
- 2 tbsp Home Farm MK Cinnamon Honey
- 2 tbsp chopped toasted walnuts, optional
Method
- Simmer the apple with water and butter in a small pan for 5–7 minutes until softened.
- Meanwhile, bring the oats and milk to a gentle simmer in a saucepan and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring regularly until creamy. Add a splash more milk if the porridge becomes too thick.
- Divide between warm bowls and top with the softened apple.
- Drizzle over Cinnamon Honey just before serving and finish with walnuts if using.
From the Home Farm Kitchen
A tart eating apple such as Braeburn balances the sweetness of Cinnamon Honey. For a thicker porridge, allow it to stand for a minute before serving. Chop walnuts finely for younger children and omit them if serving anyone with a nut allergy.
Honey is not suitable for children under 12 months.
