Baked Pears with Vanilla Honey

Baked Pears with Vanilla Honey plated recipe
PREPARATION10 mins
COOKING25 mins
SERVES4

A soft, fragrant dessert where ripe pears and Madagascan Vanilla Honey need very little embellishment.

Serves 4 | 10 minutes preparation | 20–25 minutes cooking

Ingredients

  • 4 medium ripe but firm pears, halved and cored (choose similarly sized pears for even cooking)
  • 20g unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp Home Farm MK Madagascan Vanilla Honey
  • 40g walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 150g mascarpone or thick Greek yoghurt
  • A squeeze of lemon juice

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan). Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in a small baking dish.
  2. Dot with butter, add a squeeze of lemon and 2 tbsp water to the dish. Bake for 15–20 minutes.
  3. Drizzle with two tablespoons of vanilla honey and bake for another 5–10 minutes, until a knife slips easily through the thickest pear. Scatter over the chopped walnuts for the final 3–5 minutes so they toast without burning.
  4. Serve warm with mascarpone or yoghurt and a final drizzle of the remaining honey.

From the Home Farm Kitchen

Firm pears keep their shape and soften beautifully in the oven. If your pears are very firm, allow extra cooking time before adding the honey; if already ripe and soft, check early.
